Welcome to maydayflyin.com
The Annual May Day Fly-In & Air Show in Valdez, Alaska has quickly become the aviation event of the year. The 2007 Fly-In drew more pilots, vendors and spectators than ever before. The pilot competitions really got the crowd going with the spectacular STOL (Short Landing/Short Take Off) and Flour Bombing. Adding to the excitement was Unusual Attitudes’ daring stunt shows, a US Coast Guard Helicopter simulated rescue and a team of skydivers. View clips in the VIDEO ROOM.
So it's all about THE WHITE LINE! In Alaska it's not about the fastest plane or the prettiest but the plane that can get on the ground in the shortest amount of distance and then back off the ground in the same distance. This in known as the STOL or WHITE LINE competition.
This competition brings some of the best STOL pilots in the nation out with the likes of Paul Clause (pilot of the 19' take off), Greg Miller of the Big Rock Long Props DVDs, and many more.
